ATC Panels Adding New Laminate Flooring Facility to Clarion, Pa. Plant.
ATC Panels, in association with its joint venture partner Tarkett, Inc., recently began construction on a new $50 million, state-of-the-art laminate flooring facility located next to the existing HDF plant in Clarion, Pa.  The 300,000-square-foot facility will feature two production lines with a capacity of 240 million square feet and is expected to be operational in August 2007.

ATC Panels is an industry leading supplier of composite panels and value-added products and is one of the fastest growing wood panel companies in North America. The company is owned by Aconcagua Holdings, named after the highest mountain in the western hemisphere.  Aconcagua Holdings was formed in May 2004 by several Chilean investors, who until 2002 controlled MASISA, the largest wood-panels manufacturer in Latin America.  With five acquisitions in the past two and a half years and a recent significant minority investment by New York-based investment firm Palladium Equity Partners LLC, the company aggressively growing.  

The ATC Panels companies manufacture and sell Thermally Fused Melamine Panels (TFM), MDF Gesso-Coated Mouldings, Particleboard, Low Density Fiberboard (LDF), Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and High Density Fiberboard (HDF).

Operations in North America are conducted through:

  • ATC Panels Inc., which owns and operates the Franklin, VA particleboard mill and the Moncure, NC particleboard mill and thermally fused melamine operation

  • Clarion Boards Inc., a joint venture with the French flooring company Tarkett, Inc., which owns and operates the Clarion, PA MDF and HDF mill, and;

  • ATC Pembroke Inc., which owns and operates the Pembroke, Ontario MDF and mouldings mill
